Surgeries: Glenn Procedure

Before this surgery, John was a beautiful, pudgy, breastfed baby. But his SATS were dropping lower and lower by the day. Even with the help of supplemental oxygen through a nasal cannula, I had a hard time keeping his SATS above 70%. He was blue... very blue.

The goal of the Glenn Procedure is to improve oxygen saturation levels and decrease the volume load on the single ventricle. The amazing surgeons attach the superior vena cava directly to the pulmonary artery in order to relieve the overworked single ventricle.

John's Glenn Procedure was a huge success. Look how pink it made him!
